The Sengwer also known as Cherang’any is a sub-tribe of the larger Kalenjin people. They live in the western parts of the Northern Rift valley province. They are mainly found or scattered in three counties, West Pokot, Trans-nzoia and Elgeiyo-Marakwet. According to the 2019 census, there number is approximately 100,000.
Their main economic activity are small scale farming and keeping of livestock and bee keepers.
The SengwerCherang’any Bible Translation begun in the year 2019. The team has managed to complete 60% of the NT drafting, 6 consultant checkings, community checking of 1 book of gospel (Luke), which is on its final checks, alsmost ready for publishing.
