Mr. Ng’ania Sabila oversees the Language Programmes Department and is responsible for establishing translation and literacy programmes in the language communities still needing to have Scriptures translated into these languages. The department builds vision and capacity for translation and literacy programmes in these communities, in partnership with the Church and other local stakeholders.
Mr. Ng’ania is a graduate of Moi University where he pursed a Bachelor of Arts degree. In addition, he holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from Maseno university. He has also done part one of the Project Management diploma course with Kenya Institute of Management and undertaken several internal and external short term courses and trainings.
Mr. Ng’ania has a rich experience spanning close to twenty years working in language development and translation work. He was in Charge of the Sabaot Mother Tongue Education Programme which implemented a mother Tongue Programme across both Bungoma and Trans –Nzoia counties. The programme developed Mother Tongue materials that were approved by KICD (then KIE) and included in the Orange Book which is the official catalogue of the government that contains the books that are authorized to be used in the Kenyan schools. Hew was also in charge of The Sabaot Bible Translation programme, the first BTL project to launch a complete Bible in 2012.
Before taking up this role, Mr. Ng’ania was in charge of the Language and translation work in the Western part of Kenya.
Bible Translation & Literacy is a Christian organization that was established in 1981 to facilitate Bible translation.
