I have witnessed all kinds of reactions since the dedication of the Pokomo complete Bible last weekend. Yesterday, a clergy member came to collect her Bibles. As she packed them into a box I had provided, she began praying in Pokomo, saying, ‘God, please help me understand this Word in my language.’ It was a heartfelt plea that she repeated several times, deeply moving me.
Furthermore, as I unpacked the Bibles from the hot metal container, Raphael came for his Bible. After finding his name on the list, I handed him his copy, and his reaction completely took me by surprise. The retired civil servant kissed his Bible repeatedly, raised it high above his head, and thanked the Lord, shouting, ‘I got my gold today! I got my gold today!’ He then exclaimed, ‘Even those who didn’t attend the dedication ceremony heard it loud and clear from their farms, (the dedication was live both on radio and also on the BTL Facebook platform).
